Ways to Make Your Planned Gift
There are a variety of ways to make your charitable gift to the Parish of the Holy Spirit. Each offers its own benefits, tax advantages and considerations.
- Bequests - are gifts made through your will. You may wish to designate a specific amount, a residual interest or the entire estate. It can be as simple as a statement in your will or a codicil appended to it.

of $________ to be used for its general purposes.
- Gift of Life Insurance - can become a gift of much greater value than the actual money expended on the policy. You can give a “paid up” policy and receive a tax receipt for the cash surrender value, or naming the church as owner and beneficiary of a new policy and receive tax receipts for the value of premiums paid.
- Gifts-in-kind - non-cash gifts. They could be donations of property such as real estate, stocks and bonds or other financial instruments. When a gift-in-kind is donated, a qualified party must appraise the value of the gift. Based on the evaluation, the donor is eligible for a tax receipt for the appraised amount.
- Gift Annuities - Life insurance, Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts are all excellent forms of planned gifts.
- Endowments - cash donations in the form of endowments may be made as a single donation or pledged over a set period. They are held in perpetuity and generate a permanent source of income for the church. Only the interest is used. The donor will receive a charitable tax receipt
